Digital art prints from my street photos, with a collage mix of life of urban people & architecture in Dutch cities Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, etc....
People tell me I make urban collages in digital art prints. My images show indeed a mixture of street life of people and the & modern architecture in the big Dutch cities. You will see in my print art people walking, biking or shopping in the streets, along modern buildings and between modern and old architecture. City life is indeed a mixture and I like to express that, while working exclusively from my own photos
my focus
The Dutch big cities fascinate me enormously where I shoot my photos! Especially daily life of urban people in and among the buildings, streets and modern architecture design in the Dutch cities, where I take my photos for creating later my digital art images.
People see my digital art as modern kind of collage art in an urban mix.
Each digital art print you see here on my website is composed in a mix of several layers. I create these layers from my own street photos - so I can make a fine art collage with a lot of interconnected complexity in the image.
how I work
I first edit my photos digitally - I cut them off, mix them and lay them over each other... until I get a digtal image mix that convinces me.
My first demand: the subject of the art print must remain visibly present. So, for me no abstract collage - composed in a photo mix! My art prints are telling something about life and about time! They tell a story-in-pictures about the lives of the people in the contemporary Dutch modern cities! Or about the modern transformation of the Dutch cities, and the generated mix of time-layers you can discover there in the ttowns. When I find my definite positions of the layers I start to mix and fuse forms and colors until the complete image start to satisfy my eyes.
I then have them printed on quality paper in limited editions and offer them for sale in a limited edition of ten, numbered and signed of course! The size of each digital print can be varied as you desired for the print.
mix of layers
By the way, I did already this intensive mixing and blending of multiple image layers in my monoprints until around 2015. But in that period the graphic print process was still traditional: I printed my monoprints on the press myself in two, three or four layers. They became consequently unique art works.
My recent digital editing method has given me other visual possibilities. I can now slide the different image layers (from my photos) over each other much more extensively than before. For example, digital editing gives me the freedom to view and weigh more variations. After comparing different versions, I finally arrive at my final choice: the final art print that you see here on the website. I sell them in a limited edition.
